About Porto and Santiago de Compostela Tour

This tour combines the catholic faith and the history of Port wine. The first destination is Porto and we will start knowing this city by the sea, at Matosinhos beach and at the mouth of the Douro river. After visiting Porto’s most famous tower, the Clérigos Tower, in the middle of the city, we will visit one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world, the Lello’s Bookstore, an inspiration for the adventures of Harry Potter. The next obligatory stopping points in Porto are St. Bento Station with its fabulous tiles that describes important details about the history of Portugal and the Gaia’s Cellars that keep all the secrets about the world-famous Porto Wine.

Due to its proximity to Spain, the tour from Porto to Santiago de Compostela is a must. With its impressive Cathedral, Compostela is one of the most important pilgrimage places in the world. Here you will see the streets full of pilgrims who have just arrived on foot or by bicycle. There will be free time to visit the city’s historic district, the 11th-century Cathedral and the tomb of Santiago Zebedee, an Apostle of Christ.

This single-day tour is always supported by the comfort of our Mercedes-Benz vehicles, driven by our certified professional driver-guides.

Porto: Panoramic

Porto is one of the most beautiful European cities. We will start our visit with a panoramic view of the sea at the beach in Matosinhos, travelling along the coast until we reach the “Foz”, the mouth of the Douro River, passing through the old medieval city district of Miragaia and arriving at the Clérigos Tower.

Tower of Clerigos - Lello's Bookstore - Carmo Church (Igreja do Carmo)

Here we can photograph the symbol of this city: the Clérigos Tower. Built in 1754, the Tower is 75 meters high and at the time it was the tallest building in the city of Porto. Next, we will visit the Lello’s Bookstore where writer JK Rowling found the inspiration for her best-selling book “Harry Potter”. It’s without a doubt one of the most outstanding bookstores in the world. Lello’s beauty is a great attraction for a vast number of tourists. We will stop for photographs at Carmo Church (Igreja do Carmo) noted for its marvellous exterior facades decorated with blue and white tiles.

São Bento Train Station and Cathedral (Estação de São Bento e Catedral)

The train station of São Bento is internationally renowned for its interior tiles that depict important events in the history of Portugal. Another stop on our tour is the Porto Cathedral which began construction in the 12th century. It is one the city’s oldest monuments built in the Romanesque style architecture and its location, high above the city, is a perfect place to see the fantastic views of the Douro River and the bridges that join its margins

Here we can find the wine cellars of the famous Port wine. You have the option of a wine tasting visit to one of the cellars of the first demarcated wine regions in the world: the Port Wine Region.

Compostela, the Galician city located in northeastern Spain, became the major center of pilgrimage in Europe after the mortal remains of the Apostle Santiago Zebedeu were found in the 9th century, supplanting Jerusalem. Here we will have time to visit the 11th-century cathedral and the tomb of the Apostle of Christ, Santiago. Walking tour of the historic area of the city.
