Coimbra and Aveiro Private tour from Lisbon
This tour combines knowledge and beauty. Located in the center region of the country, Coimbra, the “City of Knowledge”, was the capital of Portugal until 1255. From the banks of the Mondego river to the University hill, the city of Coimbra is intellectual, peculiar, full of mysticism but also burlesque and picturesque. Here we will visit the Joanine library considered by the British newspaper “The Telegraph” the most spectacular library in the world.
For lunch, we can stop at Bairrada where you can taste the famous wood fired oven cooked suckling piglet (optional).
Just a few kilometers away from Coimbra, we reach Aveiro, known as the Venice of Portugal. Here we’ll be vising the historic center, with beautiful Art-Noveau style houses from the first quarter of the 20th century, built by wealthy local entrepreneurs who made fortune with the the salt trade. You can also take a mini-cruise (optional) in one of the colorful Moliceiro boats that ride the canals and visit the salt pans. In Aveiro you will be able to taste the famous local sweet, Ovos Moles.
Whether you choose a single-day or a multi-day tour, you will always be driven in the comfort of our Mercedes-Benz vehicles and escorted by our certified professional driver-guides.
