Private tours in Portugal

Each time we’ve visited Lisbon in the past decade, we’ve hired Jorge Bras as our guide for day trips to various sites in Lisbon and in the surrounding countryside. This year, for example, Jorge took us to Fatima, Batalha, Nazare, and Tomar. Last year, Jorge took us to Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. In prior years, Jorge took us to Evora, Obidos and the nearby countryside in addition to showing us everything there is to see in Lisbon.

Jorge is extremely knowledgeable about historic and contemporary Portugal, a fascinating story-teller, and, importantly, a careful driver. We enjoy exploring the local cuisine, and Jorge always knows where to find the best food and wine in each area he takes us to. Even a quick stop at a grocery store becomes a learning experience and an adventure. Jorge’s English is impeccable, and his sense of humor delightful.

Our family reunion totaled 13 people so Jorge required 2 vehicles. Vehicles and drivers were waiting for us when we departed our cruise ship. Vehicles had WiFi bottled water and were very clean. Departed port and visited Lisbon’ s old section with its narrow streets. Then proceeded to Sintra to tour the National Palace of Sintra. After seeing the palace Jorge allowed us some free time to visit the many shops in the area. Then we drove to a nice restaurant to try some of the typical Portuguese foods.

Along the way, Jorge stopped the car to show us the cork trees of Portugal. Jorge then drove us back to Lisbon via Cascais and Estoril. Although the stated time of the tour had ended when we arrived in Lisbon, Jorge insisted on showing us the cathedral which was beautiful. Finally back to the ship in a timely fashion to ensure we felt no stress over the ship’s departure time. Best tour of our cruise. Jorge was a professional and knowledgeable guide and an excellent driver. Would recommend Jorge hands down to anyone visiting Lisbon.

Jorge was punctual, friendly and polite. He is one of the most knowledgeable guides I have ever met. It was very informative and interesting. Overall, we had a great time and would highly recommend this company.
