Old towns in northern Portugal private tour will take you on a journey to the amazing medieval northernmost cities of Portugal.
We start by visiting the historic center of Viana do Castelo, one of the best-preserved historic compounds in Portugal. Next we go uphill to the Santa Luzia shrine with a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. We continue our journey visiting Caminha, a historic city at the mouth of the Minho river on the border with Spain.
Valenca is one of the most important military fortifications in Europe. Here we will have a stroll along the wall that completely surrounds the ancient medieval city. It’s many shops for clothing, linens, handicrafts, attract many visitors from neighboring Spain. Our next destination is Moncao, the homeland of Vinho Verde. At Quinta da Brejoeira you can taste this unique wine and visit the palace. Then we arrive at the Peneda-Geres National Park with its lush vegetation. We stop at beautiful Arcos de Valdevez, a town where one of the most decisive battles took place between the recently born nation of Portugal and the mighty Castile.
Afterwards we head to the oldest village in Portugal, Ponte de Lima, where we will visit the 15th-century mother church and the famous Roman bridge that crosses the Lima river.
